ANGLICAN CHRISTMAS BAZAAR – TODAY! - NOVEMBER 25
The Anglican Christmas Bazaar is today!! Drop what you’re doing and head over to join the Anglican Church of Basel at Basel’s biggest event for the English-speaking community. Buy typical British foods, stock up on Christmas gifts, toys, jellies, and other assorted foods. Enter the raffle for the chance to win a great prize. Enjoy some coffee while looking over your new reading material for 2007.

BASEL CHRISTMAS MARKET – FROM NOVEMBER 25
The Christmas lights in Basel have already been turned on and the ice palace on Claraplatz opened, but today marks the beginning of the holiday season (in my view) with the opening of the Basel Christmas Market. Make sure to visit to the Barfuesserplatz to check out this year’s ornaments and gift ideas. Even if you’re just looking, buy a mug of mulled wine and wander around the stalls – it is guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING HOURS
Many stores in Basel will be open on Sundays, December 10 and 17, from 1-6pm. (However they will be closed on December 24, Christmas Eve, which falls on a Sunday, so plan ahead.) As if that isn’t enough, hold onto your hats because stores in Basel will be open on Friday, December 22nd…. until 10 p.m.!

ART EXHIBITION – NOVEMBER 30
You are invited to attend the opening of an exhibition of original artwork by The Aqua-r-elles on Thursday, 30 November, at 18.30 at Centrepoint, Im Lohnhof 8 in Basel. The exhibition will run from 30 November through 27 February. The opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10.00 – 14.00; Wednesdays 10.00 – 17.00; the first and third Saturday per month from 11.00 -13.00; and the first Thursday of the month from 18.30 – 20.30.

THE MIKADO – JANUARY 7
The days after Christmas and New Year’s can be a bit bleak. So, why not plan now and have something fun to look forward to? The Gilbert & Sullivan Society has reserved 25 seats for a performance of The Mikado by the Pocket Opera Company at the ZKO-Haus, Seefeldstrasse 305, Zürich, on Sunday, January 7, at 17:00. The price of group tickets is CHF 52.20 (reduced from CHF 58)
